General Philosophy

The Club was founded to promote the appreciation by the public-at-large of these two wonderful models; together with the enjoyment of our hobby of owning and caring for the vehicles.

However, we have always kept paramount that the Club is essentially a social group, a group of friends.
We cater both for those whose primary interest is in unmodified vehicles, and for those whose primary interest is in modified vehicles: all views are respected.
Members do not need to own an EJ or an EH: so long as they like these models and respect them for what they are, they are welcome.
We cater for all ages: indeed, we think it is highly desirable that we have a fairly evenly balanced mix of ages, and that is the situation we have at present. Accordingly, we try and have functions that might appeal to the different age groups.
We also cater to both genders, and although the number s are approximately even, we have a few more males than females.
We welcome membership from people in the general region of the ACT, and have cheaper club membership for out-of-towners; recognising that they will probably get less out of membership because of the distance to travel. However, such members get our magazine, and are full members in every sense of the word.

Shows and technical matters

Club members attend a lot of car shows in the ACT, Wollongong, Sydney, Moruya etc . Members also attend the biennial EH All State Run, which is the National Gathering of EJs and EHs. We are very proud of our record in regard to prizes at shows.
Members of the Club, between them, have a huge knowledge relating to EJs and EHs, and related general technical matters; and all are more than happy to assist others with this knowledge. Obviously, we also have lots of good contacts.

Legal position

We are affiliated with the Council of ACT Motor Clubs Inc, which is the Peak Body for car clubs in the ACT. We are thereby authorised to provide Club members with Concessional Registration (also known as 'Club Plates'), in accordance with the rules laid down by the ACT Government.

Club Journal

Our journal, called "Keep Holden On", is normally published every few months, and is distributed to members, and many other car clubs (who also send us one of their magazines each issue).

Social

Our general approach is to try and have a club outing each month, other than in January and mid-winter. We try to alternate each month between "big" outings and "smaller" outings. Naturally, the outings are on dates that do not clash with the many car shows and similar events (eg swap meets) that our members support each year.

Meetings

Are held on the second Monday of each month, except January, at 7.30 pm. The location is the Weston Club (Raiders), 1 Liardet Street, Weston, ACT.

Joining the Club

For most people, the easiest way to join is to attend a Club meeting; out-of-towners can contact the Secretary for an application form. Information on the Club can be obtained from any Office Bearer.
