Hell's supercharged 6 cylinder red motor

GMEH Street Machine Magazine article (click here)

This is the latest addition to GMEH. A Yella Terra supercharger 'Terra Charger' it is a 1.5 litre roots style pump utilising the same rotors as a Commodore V6 pump. They cost about $3000, and there are no kits available to fit them. All of what you see here is custom fabricated. I don't know of any shops that would undertake this kind of task, and I had to get a friend of mine Mark to help with the fabrication of components. The blower to head manifold was a prototype that never went into production, so they are unavailable also. I was just lucky and in the right place at the right time.

The Motor itself is a red 202. Duralite pistons dished to give just above 8:1 compression ratio. The head is a Yella Terra new cast 12 port with massive valves. Rockers are Yella Terra 'Street Terra'. Pulley mounted on front for four ribbed flat belt to run blower and alternator. Carby is Gas Research.

Transmission is Trimatic fully manualised built to withstand 300+ horsepower. Torque converter is not hi stall as it is not required with a supercharger. Tailshaft is now three inch. Using a B&M QuickSilver ratchet 'bang' shifter to enable the manualised Trimatic to shift instantly. It is like having a manual but the clutch is automatic. It certainly allows for instant transfer of power when changing gears.

The latest additions to the engine bay are the aluminium radiator from Aussie Desert Coolers, and you can see I have had the end of the wiper motor polished also.

The dash instrument cluster is from a GH Sigma (Hmmm seem to be good for something). Steering wheel SAAS. CD player Alpine.

EH Car Club Vic Display Day November 2000 'Grand Champion'

Wheels are Centreline 'Trigon' 16x7 front 16x8 rear with Falkon Grb 205/45 front and 225/45 rear

3000rpm in second gear no sweat - anytime.

Side shot. You can see the fast idle switch on the side of the Gas Research LPG carby. The LPG converter is hidin' under the air cleaner pod. You can see the fast idle switch is really close to the new hinges.

Thought if I was fabricating the LH hinge I may as well do the RH hinge as well. This allowed me to put on a firewall mounted booster supplied by Alex at The Brake Shop 0408 12 1964. I thorougly recommend him his work is second to none. He does a lot of hot rods and is able to do a lot of custom braking systems.

The brakes on front are HQ crossdrilled and slotted on HQ stub axles with HZ Girlock calipers.

Rear end is VR Borg warner shortened with 3.45 LSD. Brakes are crossdrilled and slotted Commodore discs.

Oil filter angle mount off Holden 4 cylinder. Used to clear the beautiful rack & pinion steering setup. Yep that's right look again, no steering box, no slack, no slop and easier steering. Call Rod Gordon Smith at Rod's Racks and Suspension. I belive his setup is the best you can buy. He can courier the stuff to you. (07) 5541 4967 or 0419 760 987

This is the Rack that Rod supplies already shortened. The sup is also modified and Rod does changeover sumps to suit. You can see the squarer cutout and the recess for the knuckle.

This is where the shaft comes out of the firewall. Again you send up your plate that used to go around the steering box and it is fabricated on a jig to a collapsible outer tube. This knuckle goes down past the oil pump (you can just see the filter bottom RH) and on to the rack

This shot shows the collapsible steering colum outer. There is a collapsible inner shaft also. The shaft cut off your old steering box and the outer tube are also required for these fabricated components.

The chamber at the back of the blower has a bypass valve that comes from the back of the manifold. This operates to bypass pressure when you back off. Under any boost the valve closes.

This shot shows the low profile of the setup. It is all level with the rocker cover.
