The club was formed on the 21st of June 1977 to promote an interest in collecting, rebuilding and restoring EH Holdens. Everyone and anyone is welcome. There are no requirements to have a 'show' car, a 'special' model, or even a finished car. Even if you haven't bought one yet and need info and are interested, you may find it to be a very beneficial way to get info and other peoples opinions. We are all different, and for that reason, there is no reason that you should feel you wont fit in or be 'accepted'. EJ-EH's are a pretty relaxed type of car to own, and for that reason you will find most owners are relaxed also. Our emphasis is on being a social club where people with a joint interest can get together. Membership is open to anyone who owns an EH or EJ Holden of any body style either standard, modified, show car, daily driver, rat rod style, or has a strong interest in EH /EJ Holdens. It's your car, and all are accepted. You and your car could benefit so much from a membership. The advantages of joining the EH Car Club aside from the social aspect are discounts at certain locations including registration and insurance on your vehicle. Sometimes rare opportunities will come up for club members, such as the once in a lifetime invitation from Holden's Limited for members from our club to visit the secretive Lang Lang test site. We also keep in close contact with EH clubs in other states. Membership is open to any person at all. As we are a social club, all you need to do is have an interest in EH or EJ Holdens. The membership fee is $40.00 per year. Just print out the form that is linked to this page, fill it in and post it to our club address on the bottom of the form, with your cheque or money order for $40.00 payable to "EH Holden Car Club of Victoria Inc". You will need to wait approximately four weeks for processing. You will receive your membership card and a current newsletter. The newsletters include a buy and sell section which is free for members to advertise in.
EJ and EH build info is like a big puzzle. Vehicle manufacturers are not really interested in keeping detailed records. The EHCCV has a database set up to record EJ and EH vehicle details. This will enable people to find out whether it would be likely that their vehicle is original, or an estimated build date if not known. It will also bring to light some trim and paint options made available, and the approximate numbers of what particular types of vehicle styles were produced. If you would like to become part of this then I urge you to go to the EJ-EH Register, and there you will be able to input the details as required. If you are selling an EJ or EH through this website, it would definitely be very much appreciated. The database will not record personal information, and at this stage is not available freely, but we will be able to answer most questions related to the info we have, and if you have info to give us, then we may have an answer for you. Hopefully we will have more pieces of this puzzle so we can all see the picture. The EHCCV is a member of Club Permit Scheme ,a registered signatory with VicRoads and this is reviewed yearly by them. There are several stipulations before issuing a permit plate. The vehicle must be located in Victoria. Meetings are held at 8 pm on the last Monday of each month (except December) at the South Camberwell Tennis Clubrooms. They are located at 332 Burke Rd Glen Iris (South Camberwell). The meetings will generally start with a bit of official business. Minutes of the previous meeting, secretary's and treasurer's reports. Then we go onto items of discussion within the club, such as reports on the previous run, deciding new and upcoming runs etc... At quite a few of the meetings we will have a guest speaker, who can inform us of any products or information that would be of interest. Then it's on to general business, and open questions amongst everyone. From there we go to buy and sell. After the meeting is officially over, everyone may have tea, coffee
or soft drink, which are made available, and talk amongst themselves.
This is a good time to pick somebody's brain in relation to technical
help or parts availability. It is the perfect time just to walk up to someone and start talking. From there some members will go to a local
pizzeria for coffee or supper. For a complete update on all of the official EHCCV runs coming up, and other motoring events happening, click here calendar of events. If you know of any events that may be of interest to fellow members, please email us The club participates in a social run each month. These outings vary in distance and direction, but are usually followed by a BBQ and various other activities. Members at club meetings decide runs and other social events. The club also organises other annual events such as the EHCCV annual Display Day in November each year. We also participate in the EH Holden All State Run which involves the EH Holden car clubs from different states around Australia and is held every second Easter on an odd numbered year. The last all state run was held in Western Australia in 2009, and the next one in 2011 will be held in Canberra. The club participates in events organised by other car clubs as well. We also keep in close contact with EH clubs in other states. These are the types of activities we get up to, OBSERVATION RUNS, BBQ's, BOWLING, GO-KARTS MYSTERY CRUISES, DRIVE-IN NIGHTS, DISPLAY DAYS.
As these cars restored, original and modified drive out of Australia's history and into the public eye, they seem to mesmerise crowds with their rough-edged style and no-nonsense charm. From the many quiet lugga lugga stock motors, to street cars to wild V8's.With the thunder of raw horsepower a constant background, drivers put their machines through events such as the Go to Whoa and Spear a Spud, in addition to the ever popular burnout competition. A slippery track is little deterrence to the drivers, who delight in sending their cars sideways through right angled turns at high speeds. This is all done under strict rules and guidelines of course. A Show 'n' Shine and a dinner night are also held, and the emphasis of the whole weekend is a social and family atmosphere. Being an event where the host club invites members of the other EJ-EH clubs around Australia, and not a 'Nationals', the EH All State Run has a less competitive nature and focuses more on the actual social atmosphere. We get our cars out in the later months each year for our largest event. Members polish, clean and some even finish their car for this event. It is a time when we can show to the public what we are all about. A social club. Enthusiasts, interested new members, nostalgia buffs and many others turn up to see what we have on display. It is not just about having a show or concourse car, all cars are welcome. It is about getting together for a day to socialise and get ideas. The members do get the chance to vote on, and have their own cars voted on by other members for several trophies presented later on in the day. This is a compulsory event to be eligible for member of the year. You must be a member for three months to be in the running for a trophy. It is also annual CH club permit plate vehicles inspection day. Don't miss it. The Display Day has been held in different locations over the last couple of years, including "Southbank" in the city, at Scienceworks museum in Yarraville, and Albert Park. As a club we are actively involved in promotion, and have attended numerous car shows over the years, and gained "Top attending club" awards, such as at Bayside Show 1997, QANTAS Australian Grand Prix 1998 and 1999, Gear Grinders Festival Maldon 2002, Picnic at Hanging Rock and at the Hound Dog Rock 'n' Rodders 2002. We have also attended the Shannons Albert Park Classic. We have also had club cars on display at the Melbourne Hot Rod Show, and attend the All Holden Day each year.
