Not only are the new engines more powerful, they greatly improve petrol economy as well, thanks to new, highly efficient combustion chambers, higher rear axle ratios, and higher, 8.8:1, compression ratio. The new engines have a 7-bearing crankshaft. This gives a real advance in smooth, quiet operation. New oversquare design, high-quality materials for all components, the 7-bearing crankshaft, all go to make sure your new Holden's engine will give even longer, more dependable performance than the previous Holden engine. Oil changes are needed only at 4000 mile intervals, thanks to the new full-flow oil filter. Hydraulic valve lifters eliminate tappet noise and do not need periodic adjustment. Standard on all models except Premier is the new 100 h,p., 149 cu. in. engine. Standard on Premier models is the new 115 h,p., 179 cu. in. engine.
